I'm a big fan of the series but I'm definitely not a big fan of those tedious Japanese old PCs. How do I make it work?

I struggled to play this one. RTS was the next big thing when this game came out, but I don't think SystemSoft successfully transitioned from their turn-based niche. The overall impression was that the computer played stupidly in the tactical realm but compensated for it by being efficient in the tedious production management side of the game.
