How to play Excalibur 2555 A.D. Windows

Notes:

  • The game was using CD Audio music, to play with CD Audio you must have the disc in virtual drive. Alternatively, rip the audio tracks from the CD and use OGG-WinMM CD Audio Emulator
  • The game works fine on Windows 95 & 98 systems, but it doesn't work on Windows 2000 by default, the game lags very hard. To run it on Windows 2000 do the next: run Excal.exe and select the settings you need, then enter the game; it will freeze badly, so press Alt + F4 to close it. Now select Glide.exe or Fish.exe (depending on whether you want to play in Glide mode or not), set compatibility with Windows 95 in "Properties" (having previously activated the compatibility mode in Windows 2000, if you have not done so yet). Run the exe-file of the game
  • If you run the game on Windows XP, select the compatility mode with Windows 95 or 98, but there's no 100% guarantee the game will work. On Windows XP, you can try to run the game with zeckensack's Glide Wrapper with these settings, don't forget to select the compatibility mode with Windows 95 for Glide.exe, Fish.exe and Setup.exe; check this thread for more details
  • The game was working on Glide technology, if you want to run the game on modern systems, use special tools with Glide support, like dgVoodoo 2, nGlide or cnc-ddraw
