Hey friends, get the "RIP Version", and use this in the game directory: https://github.com/FunkyFr3sh/cnc-ddraw
It will work like a charm! ;)

Have you seen my recent comment (May 13, 2024)? Now I tried something else: I copied all the .dll files (as TheFixer told), I ran the game (runs smoothly until a certain point I'll mention later) and saw the dgVoodoo watermark. I thought it was too difficult to find in Google, but I copied the dgvoodoo.conf file, edited with Notepad and changed the dgVoodoowatermark value to false. There are no unnecessary watermarks now (vertical bars and framerate drops are also gone), but I played random dungeons and after an hour (sometimes less, sometimes slightly more) the game hangs; you have to kill the task by: pressing [ctrl]+[alt]+[del], entering the task manager and closing "Top down adventure game..." (at least this description of medieval.exe is shown in task manager). I don't know if this happens on dragon quest mode (didn't play yet) or this is based on the dungeon background. Played on Windows 10 x64, with non-English copy added to a magazine from August 2000 issue.

I have a Windows 10 x64 PC and release different than the one available here. I used the DDrawCompat 0.4.0 (then I decided to apply a newer version of DDrawCompat), but the issue is now this: you get vertical bars on the right and left for no reason (I'm using a 16:9 monitor, but does this matter much?). There are NO TIPS on how to force the game to support widescreen resolutions OR AT LEAST the ones which won't display these bars I detest. Good luck!

I got Get Medieval to load but the characters move too slowly. Is there a way to fix this?

Other than the fixed installer for the ISO versions you also don't need to mess around with dgVoodoo for this game. Just grab the ddraw.dll file from this GitHub direct draw project and put the ddraw.dll file into your game install directory. Gets rid of any lag, screen jitter in modern Windows. Tested with version 0.4.0 in Windows 10. Click on "Assets" and download the file "DDrawCompat-v0.4.0.zip". You will find the ddraw.dll file in that archive. https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases

To run the game smoothly, you need dgVoodoo2, go to http://www.dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/, download the latest and copy all .dll files (D3D8.dll, D3D9.dll, and so on) from MS\x86 to the games folder. You might also need to copy from dgVoodoo2 the dgVoodooCpl.exe, run it, and on the DirectX tab tick Force Vsync, hit apply, run the MEDIEVAL.EXE and enjoy the game.

dgVoodoo2 did the trick for me to get this to run perfectly on Windows 10.

I have a physical copy, and that has no problem.
Sad if this version here doesn't work, would be nice to see people trying Torture Chamber difficulty. It is insane.

I have the same problem. Game runs, but when you get to the actual play, FPS and game speed is incredibly low, making it completely unplayable.
