In reality the game installs quite well, fast and does not cause any problems. The problem arises when the simulation begins. In fact the game is .....TOO fast, it seems to work with at least 4x time compression! The disaster is completed at the end, when the mission ends and we are inexorably killed, given the absolute UNPLAYABILITY of the program, and we arrive at the classic C...D...T...which puts an end to our (negative) experience .

Cant get it to run, its demanding a CD . How do I get round this, is there a no-cd patch ?

Hye dont get angry with this site. The issue with ATFGold is that it was written in machine code, by some hard core UNIX programmer, and it wrote directly to the screen memory in order to run at a realistic speed. After Win97, windows got VERY fussy about stuff writing directly to the graphics RAM, and Ive never got it to run on any windows version between 97 and 8. It usualy works up to the point you try and take off then, as it tries to move the graphics page dyamically windows takes exception, even with compatbaility settings. Ima bout to try it o nWin 10 shortly, it seems better adapted. Ive also never tried runnign it in DOSBox, which might work because it sets up a virtual graphics page. THis program is from the days when computer prgramming and especially graphics was a dark art, and not the pansy soft hobby it is now.

I've installed the game but it crashes constantly as I start a mission any idea how to fix?

.mds/.mdf images are mountable CD-ROM images. You should be able to mount them using Daemon Tools. If using Win9x, you will need to use Daemon Tools v3.47. If using Windows XP, stick with v4.46. You can find old version of Daemon Tools from oldversion.com.
