Description of RoadWar 2000
This classic SSI game was available on the IBM, C-64, and Apple, and the IBM version is not the best. Still, its a fun and unique game that is both simple and yet addictive at the same time.
The plot is that in the year 1999 (which, I know, has already passed :) ) a terrorist group unleashes a deadly virus on the United States and the country collapses. You control a road gang that is trying to take over cities and survive the harsh world. Do well enough and you'll be contacted by the government and sent on a quest to find eight missing scientists and bring them back to a secret base. You move the gang around on a map of North America and have to loot cities for needed supplies, engage in gun battles with other gangs, and fight detailed tactical road battles to capture vehicles..
Good EGA graphics for its time and no two games are quite the same. Downsides are no sounds, easy to die at the start of the game, and unrealisitc features in the game (such as how gang combat in non-tactical battles is conducted). Despite these flaws, this is a great game that should have received more attention then it did. Two thumbs up!

Stay tuned for Steam or GOG ? I'll never buy from them.I'm fed up with this policy. Very soon there will be no more abandonware.Eat them, GOG or Steam, you will not get a penny from me.

should be categorized as a "rpg with strategy and adventure elements", just like "king's bounty".

WHY hasnt this been remade. It was soooooo playable. It could be the best game of this type. Had so many cool elements. Surely someone from an indie game co. could put this together.

Enjoyed this so much on C64. At that time it was the only game similar to the Road Warrior movies. Must be really good, now that I see the stickman graphics.

This is a game I remember too well, even though I must have sucked at it, because I remember playing forever, but never getting into the "story" about finding any scientists.

Oh man, we had this game when I was a kid and I hated it! No wonder I didn't remember it...

I can't seem to add the right floppy drive A for this game to play it. I'm sure it's my fault, because of my lack of computer skills

I think this is the atari st version with emulator, not the dos version.
