I'm running it on the emulator PCem and it works great! My setup is Socket 7 ASUS P/I-P55TVP4 motherboard. Mobile Pentium MMX 300. 128MB ram. 3Dfx Voodoo3 3000 GPU. If you are into older PC games I HIGHLY recommend PCem. If you need help setting it up there is a good video by PhilsComputerlab on youtube.

I've been searching for this game for YEARS! Glad to see I can finally play it again! W10 works like a charm, use PK's method if you're having crashing issues.

Follow these steps, I managed to install with those:
1. Run the setup (nothing happens)
2. Open Task Manager and go to the "details" tab
3. Right-click setup.exe
4. Select "Analyze wait chain"
You should receive a list of processes. For some reason the installer was waiting on "Viber" on my PC and I had to quit viber in order to get it running. Once I quit that the installer immediately popped up on screen. "
i found this information and it worked for me.

I have found a way to get Gearhead Garage to work on Windows 10:
1. Install normally from the ISO and apply all patches from gearheadgarage(com)
2. Get the portable version of Nelson Piquet's Grand Prix (game) from myabandonware(com)
3. Replace the file called d3d.vd from the Data folder of Gearhead Garage with the same file from Nelson Piquet's Grand Prix
4. Set compatibility mode for ghg.exe to Windows XP (SP2) and tick the box for "Run as administrator"
GHG should not crash anymore and you can enjoy it

Is there any way to make this for Google play or Apple store? Would be a great game in Apple or Android! I know they have mechanic simulator 19, and it's a great game for phone and computer, but would be nice to bring back a classic that pretty much started it all!

Several people have mentioned that they can't get it working on Windows 7+. You need to run a virtual desktop with Windows 98 to get it to work properly.

Gearhead Garage is addicting. I love it!
Car Mechanic Simulator 2014 and 2015 look good, but require internet connection. I only play games that NEVER require access to the internet -- as I often play where there is no internet.

I remember playing this game when I was younger. I still haven't found a good, new game that is like it. It plays great on Linux using Wine. The only thing that I found is needed is the updates, which I just checked are still available on there website (just search for Gearhead Garage to find it).
