Description of A-Train Construction Set
Here is the video game “A-Train Construction Set”! Released in 1992 on DOS, it's still available and playable with some tinkering. It was released on Amiga and Sharp X68000 as well.

Tried to install however it states that the "path you have specified does not contain an installed copy of A-Train" despite the fact that A-train is installed there. I followed the previous instructions with the same result.

SOLVING file install destination issue. So I had copy the contents of the atrainco file to c:\ then run the install from dosbox from the c:\ drive. It will then allow you to select the proper destination.
example
copy/paste contents of ATRAINCO to c:\
run DOSBox
mount c c:\ [enter]
c:\ [enter]
install [enter]
choose destination "mine was c:\dosgames\atrain"
exit

There seems to be a conflict between this version of the construction set and the version of a-train on the site. I was enjoying a-train fine but after installing the construction set I noticed my city would totally stall growth after a large station grew it's first road tile. No more roads, no apartments, no hotels, no office, nothing. I remember using the construction set extensively as a kid back in the day without this issue. Going to confirm it by uninstalling everything and re-installing just a-train without the construction set.

Squirt: You might need to *install* both this and a-train. That's what i did and it worked just fine... But if Construction Set complains, then i guess you didn't run install.exe from the a-train archive. (However, i could not find any message that prevented me from installing it *somewhere*, even if i tried with the pre-install location. What have you tried to run, and what message did it show?) The default installation directory is C:\MAXIS\ATRAIN, and my guess is that Construction Set checks to see if you have some particular file there (possibly A-TRAIN.CFG). If you don't install A-Train, and merely provide the folder to the extracted files from a-train.zip, that file won't be there.

Thank you very much for this game!
Unfortunately, it keeps pestering me to install it in the same directory as a working copy of A-Train (which I have), but each time I tell it where that directory is, I still get this same message. Has anyone run into this problem and figured anything out, or does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!!
