How to play Batman: Vengeance Windows
Your antivirus may trigger on Batman.exe and graphicsetup.exe, for unknown reason they showed some generic warnings on VirusTotal scan. It is safe to use, nothing to worry about, here's the scan reports for Batman.exe and graphicsetup.exe
The game has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10, it works fine. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Guide and Notes for details
Install & play guide:
- Mount the disc image with virtual drive utility, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Lite, etc.
- Install the game (if autorun doesn't work - simply launch the installation from Setup.exe inside the disc). It is recommended to install the game not in default path, but in some other, non-system folder, like
C:/Games/Batman Vengeance
- After you installed the game - use NoCD, simply copy the files from the archive and put it into game folder, agree to replace the original files
- Open the game folder and find Batman.exe. Right click on Batman.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Set "Run this app in compatibility mode with Windows XP" and "Run as administrator"
- Run graphicsetup.exe if you want to change the graphics settings
- Launch the game from Batman.exe and play. If the game doesn't work in compatibility mode with Windows XP - try to launch it in compatibility mode with other version of Windows (Windows 98, Windows 2000, etc.)
DO NOT RUN the game from desktop shortcut, it leads to SetupUbi.exe in C:/Windows/UbiSoft
folder, you will only see the error. Run the game from Batman.exe in game folder or make a new desktop shortcut for executable file
Notes:
- If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
- It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
- The game works on DirectX 8, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
- European version of game doesn't have any strict DRM protection, only simple disc check. Polish version has SafeDisc DRM protection. Use NoCD to remove disc protection and play without the disc. If you see the error that there's not enough space on the hard drive when you copy NoCD files - re-install the game in non-system folder, like
D:/Games/Batman Vengeance
, Windows Protection may block copying of files to system folders (likeC:/Program Files
orC:/Windows
) - For users of Windows 8 and newer OS: if you have bad performance of the game, run it with dgVoodoo. To use it copy the D3D8.dll, DDraw.dll & D3DImm.dll files from the
MS/x86
folder, dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf to the game folder; then run the game from Batman.exe. The game works on DirectX 8 which may have issues on modern systems, using dgVoodoo should fix it. If you want to change the settings run dgVoodoo Control Panel (dgVoodooCpl.exe) as administrator. With dgVoodoo you can run the game with Antialiasing or Texture filtering, or in higher resolutions (the image will be stretched though) - Alternatively, you can use crosire's d3d8to9 wrapper, it should help too
- By default the game supports only 4:3 screen resolutions (maximum 1024x768). But you can run the game with wide and high screen resolutions by using Widescreen & FOV Fix by AlphaYellow. That fix is also compatible with dgVoodoo, but don't select any forced resolution in dgVoodoo Control Panel, to avoid conflict of the apps
- If you have a problem when the in-game videos doesn't work, check if you have ffdshow codec installed (it is included in K-Lite Codec Pack Mega). If it didn't help, open K-Lite Codec Pack settings and check the box to play the videos through the standard Windows Media Player
- Vsync in the game doesn't work on Windows 10 & 11! Using additional wrappers like crosire's d3d8to9 wrapper or dgVoodoo fixes the problem
- If you have problem with broken sound effects or disappearing sound - first try to change the sound settings. If it didn't work - set sound quality to 24 bit, 48000 Hz or 24 bit, 44100 Hz. Read this guide how to do that
- The game has full controller support. If the game doesn't recognize your gamepad - try using one of the additional tools from PCGamingWiki guide for controllers
- Be careful, Russian version is protected with StarForce DRM! Make sure to use NoCD before the first launch, especially if you have 32-bit Windows, to avoid the installation of StarForce DRM drivers! That drivers are not compatible with modern systems and can ruin your computer! Check this page for more details about Russian version
- Don't forget to check PCGamingWiki if you have troubles!

I keep getting an error that says "Can't copy F:\Data\Batman.exe to C:\Program Files (x86) Ubi Soft\Batman\\Batman.exe!!" so i'm unable to install it, even after mounting with PowerISO.

Thank you for uploading this! Do you have the means to upload Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu, the beat em up sort of sequel to Vengeance?

nice, I know this is considered a mediocre game, but its one of the rare Batman games that captures that Animated Series atmosphere.
