Drakkhen
DOS - 1989
Also released on: Amiga - Atari ST - FM Towns - Sharp X68000
Description of Drakkhen
Betrayal at Krondor is usually credited as the first RPG to use first-person, 3D landscape. But as you can see here that's definitely not the case: Drakkhen, released in the U.S. by MicroProse, was way ahead of its time in many ways.
It is a fun, "light" RPG which boasts gorgeous graphics (in VGA) that reflects the passage of time, cool weapons, and a decent plot that could have been better integrated into the vast gameworld.

FOR NONE OF THIS YOU WILL SEE BRAVE ADVENTURER 2024-07-25 0 point Atari ST version
I Played this Game on an ATARI ST FM520 and never ended up Clocking the Game . In Real Game Time , I believe that I Played the Game for at least 2 Year's ! . Yes , 2 Year's . I have being Playing Drakkhen for at least 10 Year's and could never find the Ending to the Game . Back in the Day's where it was virtually unknown or impossible to get information about how to Clock the Game , so I chose for countless Year's to Play without any Cheating . I had all My Character over Level 50 and all Character's had the highest Armour Value's and Weapon's . The Largest Dragon became a breeze to finish off and at time's , I was destroying 30 to 40 Dragon's within around 15Minute's . My Group of Character's became so Powerful , that nothing in the Drakkhen World could destroy Them . I read the Book and I recall it saying something about a Land abroad from the Sea of Water , however , I do not know if The Character's can leave the Island via Ship . Lastly , being so Powerful and now Ruling the Island , I am stuck on this Island of Drakkhen and cannot Puzzle out how to End the Game , for when My Character's did all Die in the earlier Stage's of the Game it write's , FOR NONE OF THIS YOU WILL SEE BRAVE ADVENTUREER and it read's on and on . So I figured out that I will never Clock the Game and I have since then got rid of My ATARI and All My Floppy Disk Game's

I rented this game for the SNES back in like 1993 or something. This game was so much fun! I remember the dragons coming down and zapping us do death and yes, that dog head zapping lasers out its eyes! So much fun!

Wow, I don't understand how to play this game at all, seems likes you just stand there and get owned by random enemies... I hope there's a youtube tutorial...

the "french" version of the game on your site is actually the international (european) version and can be played in french, english, italian, or german.
while this version only plays in up to 16 colors, it appears to have all the files and drivers to play in 256 color mode. My guess is something's wrong with the config.tat file which prevents it from loading the vga portion. I'm working on correcting the problem, but don't hold your breath...

I'm playing this on dosbox and i've run into a bit of a snag. It's asking for codes and I can't find any sort of code sheet. Anyone know where to find those?

I first saw this game on Game Grumps, for the NES, and of course when I saw this, I HAD to play.

Played this in a store for the first time. Got our adventurers geared up and went out to explore. We came to a crossroads and bumped into the little cross sticking out of the ground. A giant evil dog's head appeared out of the ground, shot us with its laser eyes and killed all of our characters. We bought it immediately. Sure, we were constantly getting killed and eaten by random giant monsters but it sure was fun!

As a kid I shied away from this game because I kept getting killed. Seems like some things never change.

One of the best games I've played. So much fun getting eaten by those sharks when you didn't know how to get past them.
