Lure of The Temptress
DOS - 1992
Also released on: Amiga - Atari ST
Description of Lure of The Temptress
This is a charming little adventure that features the "Virtual Theatre" engine-- NPCs follow their own agenda, and finding someone you need is almost a puzzle in itself. Puzzles are logical and interesting, some of which have more than one solution. The interface is also very flexible in that you not only can form verb-noun commands, but can also ask other NPCs (or order your sidekick) to do your bidding.
The only fault I can think of for this game is the lackluster graphics and some irrating pixel-hunting. Don't miss this one, folks! Originally published by Virgin Interactive in 1992, Revolution has released the game as freeware in 2003. Three cheers to yet another game developer who recognizes that the best way to treat great games that are no longer commercially viable is to spread them :)

A very good game with a very innovative engine and environment, however relatively short. It requires attention to details on the level that was rarely (if any) explored in the games of that times. Puzzles are logical.

The ScummVM version that GoG sells has introduced broken, slow pathfinding, incorrect strings and other new game breaking bugs that even often make the game impossible to complete - bugs that are not present in the original DOS version. This is not the only game ScummVM have broken - any adventure game that is a bit more complicated and has some sort of NPC behaviour simulation is at risk if they have touched it. I'm all for buying the originals if they are that - originals. When abandonware sites start removing the DOS originals this is literally lost history, a lost experience, replaced with a buggy mess.

it is free on gog, but it's a modified version for scummvm, I hate it when they remove the original DOS executables so you can't run the games on older hardware.

It says above this game is freeware, but it is not free to download! It says below "Buy it on GOG"! What a rip off!

Fantastic game, one of a few Amiga graphic adventures that I rate up there alongside Monkey Island 2. The story is dark, the humour is mature and the puzzles are intelligent and occasionally real headscratchers, but not frustrating.
