Back in 1999-2000, there was a 13-episode Saturday morning cartoon series based on these games called Blaster's Universe. The show was really silly, but I couldn't stop laughing when I watched it. Although the show used the same characters and the name of the planet Omega from the games, the show itself did its own thing. For one example, in the games, the robot dog Mel talks like a laid-back Australian, but on TV he speaks like a posh Brit. The show ended quickly, but it served as a springboard for the educational science-fiction cartoon series Nelvana produced in the following year:
Cyberchase. (I love Cyberchase).

In regards to the game, I'd say that it's not bad, but also not all good. The animation is excellent, the voice acting is good and the games are playable, but it's not well-designed enough to be truly great. The classic Jumpstart and Cluefinders games that preceded this series are still beloved today because they featured engaging storylines and settings; and characters who acted like they lived there and invited the player to come along and explore their world with them. This Blaster game is okay, but the story and setting feels shallow in comparison, and there's not enough interaction for me to "befriend" the characters, which is why I'm not compelled to keep coming back.

Or maybe I'm just a member of the In Search of Spot generation and my inner nostalgic grump is holding me back. Either way.
