Fantastic game.
Set tactics to 3-4-3 formation, zonal/sweeper defence, medium tackling
/shooting.
In scouting, look for good ** (2 star) defenders and midfielders for under 100K. Sell them instantly and you'll make a profit. However, don't buy them if you have multiple injuries, as you may be restricted by a smaller squad.

This was the first game I bought, back in the day when games came in large boxes and on floppy disks!
For a short period (early 90's) the PM series were perhaps the best football management games around before the behemoth Championship/Football manager bulldozered all opposition.
They were fairly simple in terms of tactics (no or little individual player tactics) but they were enjoyable and playable.

Youth team players were always vanishingly rare when I played as a kid. I've had one in a 5.5 season career playing the dos version now. Seems about right.
Also had one free transfer offer, and about 3 retirements.
Worst thing is, I've hit a wall where Cambridge United appear to have too few players (their midfield and attack ratings are atrocious) and the game freezes when I play them.
Sad. Might try a different version.

Great game and thanks for it.
Noticed the following :
that the youth team never gets any player promoted.
its the same money in each division you go up for the advertising boards
Don't get many offers from other clubs
never sign any one from the scout

The Amiga version works best and has less bugs than the DOS version.
I probably have hundred of hours in this, and still play it from time to time. The simpleness and randomness of the game just appeals to me more than modern manager games. Wish someone could make a new game inspire by this.

The players don't age and there's no youth system. Other than that it's just as I remember.
