Description of Shadow of Yserbius

Designed as an on-line multiplayer game, Shadow of Yserbius and Fates of Twinion unfortunately faded into oblivion with the demise of INN, Sierra's on-line gaming service.

Stripped off its multiplayer features, they are still decent RPGs, with a good variety of monsters, spells, interesting sub-quests, even though it's still the same old "kill foozle" plot.

All in all, they're solid "dungeon crawls" that are definitely better than average. Highly recommended for RPG beginners.

There has been a reverse engineer of the original Imagination Network server software running for a few months now. So we can play with friends in Yserbius, Twinion, and Cawdor and most of the INN games inside of Dosbox running the original Imagination Network client software via a proxy connection.

You will need this software ( http://www.sierrahelp.com/Misc/INNBarn.html ) that includes everything you need to be able to connect and play all those games plus many more. It has DOSBox setup to run included INN software and the separate INNBarn proxy. The proxy is a modern program which acts as your "dialup modem" you run on your PC. When you run the INN software inside DOSbox it connects to the proxy which in turn connects you to the INN server as if it were the old phone modem originally used to call into the Imagination Network in the mid to late 1990s.

I guess this game is pretty much broken, and u cannot enjoy it fully. Althought you can run it in offline mode, without connecting to long lost Sierra Online you cannot make a party. And for 1 adventurer game is just to hard.

I beta tested all three of the games that INN had...Twinion, Ruins of Cawdor and Shadows of Yserbius. Glad to see the Yserbius version is active and will take a look if I can get it to run on updated computers. I still have all my notes, character files and such from the original game!

This game was first featured on an early dialup internet service called ImagiNation Network (Sierra). The game was multi-user then, and you could join up with more experienced players that already knew what to do. This game release came out later as a single player experience of that original game (would recommend getting a walkthrough, as it can be a tricky little adventure...). Excellent dungeon & problem solving RPG.
