Description of Virtua Cop

Virtua Cop is a decent PC conversion of a hit arcade game of the same name by SEGA.

Your objective in this 3D shooting gallery is simple: as a cop, move through various areas of a city, eliminating any criminals that get in your way. At the same time, you must avoid shooting any innocent bystanders. There is a boss at the end of each stage that must be defeated before you can move on. Any of the three stages can be selected from the opening menu, although the increasing difficulty level only makes sense if you play them in order.

Some nice touches, despite the game's brevity: you receive bonus points if you can shoot the target's weapon out of his hand, sparing his life ("Justice Shots"), and there is a practice mode that lets you practice - it even includes the innocents so that you can practice avoiding them.

All in all, a fun game and a reasonable replica of the arcade hit, although it is rather short, and too easy if you play with a mouse. Recommended, but check out the much better sequel Virtua Cop 2 for a longer and more rewarding shooting gallery.

Can someone explain how to make it work with dgvodoo2? I can't get it to run because of a display error message. I fixed the other part with renaming the dll though. I just want to replay my childhood here.

I got this game working perfectly in PCem with Windows 98SE installed in it.

(The pc port of this classic lightgun shooter game was also sometimes known as 'Virtua Squad' in North America).

I downloaded the iso file which is actually an .nrg file. I used Daemon Tools to convert the .nrg file into a .mds/.mdf image rather than an iso file. (This seperates the data and CD audio so the music will work correctly).

Next I mounted the .mdf file (mdf/mds file pair) using Daemon Tools and created an E: Virtual CD Drive.

Then finally I mounted on the CD-ROM menu in PCem the host CD/DVD Drive E: to run and install the game. It plays the CD audio/ music too when you do it this way.

nvvidmod.dll issue which I was unable to work around on Win10.
It's 6am though and I'm not feeling my brightest. Maybe this was an easy fix.

I tried playing this game in a Windows 98 Second Edition machine that I created in PCem. It runs flawlessly. I converted the nrg file to an iso file and mounted the disc through PCem. I also selected a full install. However, there is no music when playing the game.

I then tried mounting the disc in Daemon Tools. That gave me the same issue. There was no music.

I then extracted the nrg file to see that the music files were not present. According to the PC Gaming Wiki, some copies of Virtua Cop for Windows do not include the music. Could the same thing have happened with the first Virtua Cop?

If anyone else is having problem about dplay.dll, you have to download it.

I've played Virtua Cop 2-the sequel of this game and enjoyed it very much. Now I'm downloading its previous version from this site. I hope the file will crack easily and I'll be able to play the game with enjoyment and pleasure.
