Wanderer
DOS - 1988
Description of Wanderer
A puzzle game with similarities to Chip's Challenge, ZZT, or Boulder Dash, in Wanderer you must systematically clear areas of obstacles, finding treasure, avoiding and killing enemies, and most of all, avoiding the falling rocks and shooting arrows your movements trigger! Each screen must be cleared before the exit to the next screen will open.
Originally a Unix terminal game, it was ported to Dos several times, and then to other platforms like Atari, Amiga, BBC Micro and SCO Unix with graphics.
The available Dos ports include a text only version (v3.30), an EGA port (v2.2), and an S/VGA port (v4.01), all with different graphic sets. Screenshots show the variety of version variations.
For a history of Wanderer and related source code and resources, see author Steve Shipway's Wanderer page.
