The translation patch here is a little bit outdated. It's version 1.01 while the latest is 1.03.

@FROGGY and YABBA You can find the correct file for the patch on the NEO KOBE PC-98 collection on archive. org, but you will have to add the [HD] to the end of the file name or it won't work. It will be in a zip file called elf, which is the near the bottom of the list.
@FROGGY In order to patch the game you need delta patcher, which you can find by searching for delta patcher and it should be the first link (The one from romhacking. net). Open delta patcher. The first top text box is where you'll put the file path to your copy of Yu-No, remember to rename the file like I said above. In the second text box put the file path to the "Extend and Decompress.xdelta" file. Click apply patch. Once it's done put the second patch into the second text box, the "Translate decompressed version.xdelta" file. And then bam, you're now ready to play Yu-No in english.

I managed to get the game running, but the README for the english patch file means nothing to me because I am new to PC gaming. It seems the maker of this translation file already assumed I knew certain things about file compression/decompression that I don't already know. How do I use the delta patcher? Where is this "clean" .hdi file he claims I need? He gives the name but not how to find it. Where is this YUNO file he mentions? I don't have it. I need step-by-step instructions for beginners. I understand I could just learn more about file manipulation before trying to play the game, but who has that kind of time? It could take me months to learn all of that! If anyone can dumb it down for me, please do. I just want to translate the Japanese text to English in-game. That's all.
