Description of A Change in the Weather

A well-deserved winner of the first IF Competition, Inform devision, in 1995.

A Change in The Weather is a clever, very atmospheric game that begins with a deceptively simple premise: You get stuck out in the rain. As Baf's capsule review points out: "This is one difficult little game, made of interlocking time-sensitive parts with ample opportunity to get things irrevocably wrong. Consists of two acts, one before and one during the all-important and landscape-transforming downpour. Well-polished prose. Excellent building of tension. Odd and twisty map. Very satisfying."

Highly recommended to every IF fan, although beginners might find the difficult puzzles too daunting.

This isn't by Infocom, the confusion arises because it was published as an extra on one of the Infocom collections: Classic Text Adventure Masterpieces of Infocom.

it's not by Infocom, which was already dead and the corpse held by Activision by then. It's an amazing game written by one of the best authors to come out from the amateur post-commercial IF scene. Try his Spider and Web.

Ha ha! He'll be a young'un who don't remember the old Spectrum and C64 days when these text-only adventures were normal and used to be charged at £19.99! :O
Think of them as interactive novels!

That is the intent of the game.
No graphics - that is Infocom's bread and butter.
Helps you to use your imagination.
