Dark Legions
DOS - 1994
Description of Dark Legions
The last game Silicon Knights produced for SSI is reminiscent of SSI's own Archon and Archon Ultra, but with even better gameplay and more strategic options.
Command a fantasy army and lead them to victory won by discovering and capturing the opponent's "orb." Dark Legions is an excellent game where terrain truly affect battle results, with lots of cool units and spells. A heavy dose of arcade reflexes required in close combat is the only downside.

I spent hours and hours playing this as a young teen. I will always have a soft spot for the trolls.

One of the best DOS games I know of, I truly miss those kind of games that combine turn based strategy with action sequences for the fights.
So many different strategies possible although you might want to play with an agreement that the Orb should not be put on Phantoms or Shapeshifters (they can shapeshift into Phantoms) because these guys are invisible and that prolongs the game unnecessarily. You might consider banning Shapeshifters completely because they are way too strong for their cost.

After running Sound.EXE to configure sound blaster, I also go the error for missing file MELODIC.BNK.
Managed to find a copy of a file Melodic.BNK (6K) in some other DOS games:
- Chesswar
- Baldies
- Defcon 5
- Diggers 2
- Dungeon Master II
Once Melodic.BNK is copied in to the main/root games folder, game runs again.

If you set up soundcard, it complains that MELODIC.BNK file is missing.
If you configure it to have no sound, it works fine.
