How to play Enigma: Rising Tide Windows
The game had separate multiplayer servers for North America and Europe regions, so American and European releases has minor differences, such as different menus and another order of missions in singleplayer (missions are the same in both variants, just in different order). There's currently no working NoCD for US release, so it is playable only if you had physical disc in the drive (the game doesn't recognize disc image in virtual drive). So instead use UK release, or better install Gold Edition, it has all content and doesn't require the disc
Notes:
- You will need the utility for mounting disc image files to install the game, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 102%, Daemon Tools Lite, etc.
- Launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with Windows XP
- If the installation doesn't start - close all other apps (browser, torrent app, etc.) and try again. Also, try to launch the setup, then open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del by default) and check for processes Setup.exe and rundll32.exe. Close Setup.exe but don't touch rundll32.exe. Now try to launch the installation again, it should work. If it didn't work - close both Setup.exe and rundll32.exe processes and try to launch the installation once more.
- If the game shows error "pthreadVC.dll was not found" - mount the disc image in virtual drive and try to launch the game again
- The game is using DirectX 8, so you may have trouble with launch of the game on Windows 8, 10 or 11. In that case - use dgVoodoo app, read this guide how to do that
- If you played the game, then exited and can not launch the game again - use Restart Fix (only for Windows 95 - Windows XP systems)
