Description of Gods
A great conversion of Bitmap Brother's Amiga classic, Gods is a very stylish platform game that is famous for offering many nice twists and ideas, including puzzles, adventure-game style inventory, and a lot of cool power-ups and weapons. For sure one of the best games in its genre. The only things missing from the Amiga game are the cool background Copper effects, sadly some of the atmospheric sound effects. The smooth-as-silk scrolling of the Amiga version is also missing, although the scrolling looks okay for PC standards of that time. Given the awful music of most Amiga-to-PC conversions, I was pleasantly surprised that the very cool title music by Nation XII (John Foxx) made it to the PC - a decent FM-sample mix version.
Overall, Gods remains even today one of the best platform games ever made. Bitmap Brothers' magnum opus combines great action, innovative inventory management, many cool weapons and power-ups, devious level design, and even a novel mythological setting, into a game that has the rare, almost mystical ability to immerse the player in its world. If you've never played Gods, don't call yourself an action fan :)

Never gets old and still a must-play.
I had been keen that Amiga version was the best, till I played the Genesis version.

GODS CHEATS........Use only if STUCK or as a TRAINER! Finishing a game while cheats are activated is only a practice game, not a victory ........you can't win by fooling yourself! Use them wisely, learn from them, then take pride in completing the game without help.
To activate a cheat, enter the following on the PASSWORD screen -
1. MESIENTOTANFELIZ.......Complete Invincibility
2. NASHWAN.......Jump to L2 Start
2: COYOTE..........Jump to L3 Start
3: FOXX...............Jump to L4 Start
Each of the Level cheats will take you to the 'shop' screen at the beginning of that particular level. You will also have 80,000 gold to spend.
HINTS & TIPS - Be very careful not to fall into one of the several pits from which it's impossible to get out - no cheat can help if you fall into such a trap.
Keep a careful eye on the brickwork - occasionally you'll see a stone in the wall which has a slightly different shade of colour than the rest - these can be pressed and will activate something off-screen which will prove useful later on in that level.
GODS remains one of my all-time favourite platformers, bettered only (in my humble opinion) by the similar game 'Deliverance'. Enjoy!

GODS always appealed to me ,given its classic subject matter, but I had the bad luck of going for the DOS version the first time I tried to get into it.
I haven't yet tried the Ami or Genesis versions, but I can assure you that the DOS version of Gods is not Xenon 2, Z, or Speedball 2, as far as the Bitmap Bros go.
Meaning, the DOS version of this game is not a fun, straightforward game of great controls and UI, like the three I named, but probable one of the Bitmap Bros. worst DOS games.
After I try the other versions I'm going to post here my final verdict on this game.

Also, the DOS version actually has full BGM and not just the intro.

You forgot to mention the Roland soundtrack, which with proper emulation is actually very good, and even has sound effects played THROUGH the module, essentially making it like an HD SNES, maybe even better than the Amiga.

I like the Sega Genesis version best, because controls are excellent and it has nice in-game music. If you like this kind of game, also try Blades of Vengeance, Galahad, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Chakan, Risky Woods, Wolfchild, Shadow of the Beast 1 & 2. All very playable on the Genesis.

Thanks for showing a remake!
I can't really express my appreciation and how much I love that game.
For me it's best side-scroller platform game ever made, much better than mario stuff.
