Gunboat
DOS - 1990
Also released on: Amiga - Amstrad CPC - TurboGrafx-16 - ZX Spectrum
Description of Gunboat
One of the best action games ever made, this game puts you in control of 3 different stations in a gunboat ranging from gunnery to demolition.
Manning each station (i.e. weapon) actually requires different tactics due to both the differences in weaponry and enemies you face. Great fun, but be sure to slow it down first!

I wish the PC version had better sound. The sound on Turbographix and even Amiga seem loads better.

Use the functions keys to turn on engines and guns. F1 power on, F2-F3 engines on while in cabin. Guns also F1-F3. Cabin view Z-X-C, V-B-N gun views, M map. Game works but I couldn't get any sound.

I can't get it to work! Does anything ever work on this site? The game loads, and plays, I am trying gunnery practice. I can use the arrows to "aim", but I have pushed every button and can not shoot. No manual, so no clue as to what to do. I can change volume, I can change detail, I can get to some status report, (But then I can not get back to the game...) How the hell do you shoot? The controls, as most of these old games, is a joke.

...This one became sought after when John "Herman Munster" Kerry ran for president. There was a patch floating around that changed a bunch of the game text and other options so that it made fun of Kerry and the whole "Swift Boat" debacle. Almost as much fun as finding the NIMS patch for Doom I and turning all the bosses into Ho Chi Minh!
