The recommended version is V1.8.31 with HD patch. This installer is only for Windows 8 or higher Windows OS. The installation is very easy, just click next and next and next and finish. When you have installed the game, if you have an AMD graphic driver, open start menu, and go to 自由与荣耀\dgVoodoo 配置工具 and set Output API to Direct3D 12. Then start the game and enjoy.

On Windows 7, HD version has some compatibility issues. So use the SD Version for Win7.

You can change game speed through start menu 自由与荣耀\游戏速度设置. Also I provide the patched English text version (Speed Settings on this page). Extract the .zip file into the game installation folder, and run SpeedSettings.cmd and choose a number from 1~9, and it will install the English text JMain.exe file.

Game Versions

Disk images of the Original Honour & Freedom CD V1.1 and V1.2 are available on this page. It's a pity that today we couldn't find the original V1.0 game version. These game versions can only run on Win9x systems. These versions have red screen texts, so they are called "Red Text Versions". In red text version, in multiplayer games you can find treasures (the yellow shining ball) in the game. You can even collect Human CV and Robot Center!

How to use: extract the patch, extract and run the extracted Loader.exe, click on "升级游戏" and then select JMain.exe in the extracted patch.

Version 1.6.2 is the final official patch release. It added support for Windows NT/2000/XP. This version changed the screen texts to white, so it's called "White Text Version".

Version 1.6.2 is far from perfect, and the most critical problem is the bug that all dagames are calculated twice as much as the correct values. This leads to the complelely broken balance of Version 1.6.2.

Additional "Epie" Version

10 months after the V1.6.2 patch release, in November 2001, there came a new CD version, with the version number 1.6.2: Juliet162_Epie.iso. This CD was not for sale, and came as a free gift when one bought other products of the company (欢乐亿派 e-Pie Entertainment). Although it has the same version number 1.6.2 as the final patch 1.6.2, there are many differences between them. In order to distinguish them, I call this the Epiegame version.

Unfortunately, the Epiegame version is the worst version and is completely broken. It casually changed the basic mechanism of the game and removed the important game functions. For example, in the original version the units has a "guard command" and this command is set on by default for each players (both human players and computer players). With guard command set on, when a battle occurs nearby, the unit will go to the battle location and join the fight. You can set guard command on/off by pressing G. The guard command works in all Humansoft versions, including red letter text version 1.1, 1,2 and white text version 1.6.2, but this command is broken in Epiegame version 1.6.2.
