King of the Hill
Windows - 2000
Description of King of the Hill
Contains both Hootenany and Texus Huntin'. From the readme file:
For those of us who have always wanted to visit Arlen, Texas, but have never been able to organize a trip, now all the thrills come to the home computer with King of the Hill. Inspired by the hit TV show, it features the Hills and their neighbors in 20 different Fourth of July games and activities, such as Barbecue, which Hank Hill says is "the only cooking that should be done by a man."
Mow Hank's lawn quickly and thoroughly to win the lawn mower race. Go on a scavenger hunt in the Hill house with Bobby. Peggy's Tic Tac Toss game combines her favorite hobbies: word games and softball. Bill tries to re-create his first date with Lenore, his ex-wife, by building a miniature golf course. While Lenore will nevermore use it, that doesn't stop you. Meanwhile, Dale has turned his backyard into a paintball course, and you'll find old appliances and other objects to hide behind. Paintball, of course, is just practice for a trip with the Arlen Huntin' Club.
Game Modes: In the beginning of Hootenany, you are welcomed to the neighborhood with a list of things in the mail. Upon taking out the trash you see Hank, Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer in the alley, and the simulation begins. There are several minigames that you can play. They include Mini-Golf, Lawnmower Race, Paintball, Scavenger Hunt, and Tic-Tac-Toss. You can also explore a limited part of the town.
In the beginning of Texas Huntin', you start out by getting a hunting license. You meet the guys, and they invite you to their hunt. The game is pretty dull, but has humorous moments, such as shooting Dale in the arm.
Texas Huntin'
In the King of the Hill Texas Huntin' CD-ROM, It's late fall, hunting season has just begun, and the Arlen Hunting Club is gearing up for the first hunt of the season. You'll be invited to join Hank, Dale, Boomhauer, Bill and Bobby in this Texas tradition and rite of passage. Hunting season isn't just about mounted trophies for these guys, however. One of the goals of the season is to win the most points in their annual hunting contest. You're invited to join this year's competition, so be ready to put your hunting know-how to the test.
Hootenanny
In the King of the Hill Hootenanny CD-ROM, you will be transported to Arlen, into the Hill neighborhood, into the lives of Hank, Peggy, Bobby, Bill, Dale, and Boomhauer. Your mission is to be accepted as one of the gang, to earn the trust of your new neighbors, and eventually to be invited to have a beer with a new friend. The CD-ROM provides an immersive experience; each gesture hints at your inclusion and each of your decisions affects how you are treated.
Basic Game Play :
- Watch your clock and be ready to participate in one of the five Scheduled Events: Paint Ball, Mini-Golf, Lawn Mower Race, Tic Tac Toss, or Scavenger Hunt
- Pitch in with chores and unscheduled events when asked for help
- Engage in conversations with other members of the Hootenanny
- At the end of the day, one or more of the other members of the party will tell you what the gang thinks of you.

On Windows 98 I managed to install the two games included on the CD, Hootenanny and Texas Hunting but when I try to run them it throws an error "Please insert correct cd-rom.."
Correct CD is inserted so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I have an old XP system that I installed Windows 98, took me forever, but managed to get all the necessary settings to get it get the CD to install, seriously was a miracle. Unlike XP, x9 era Windows it is extremely hard to work with and little support. To describe every little thing I tried, would take several paragraphs, I put in so much effort, bleed for it twice, yet in end, heart broken.
I've yet to find any information confirming this actually works for anyone. If anyone ever gets this working please tell us how.

I installed texas hunting and hootenanny with the setups from the iso but whenever I try to run them it says "insert the correct CD-ROM, select okay than restart the application." Installed it to the hard drive so Idk why it's asking me that I'm running a windows 98 virtual machine

This game is unplayable unless you have an actual computer from the era with windows 98 installed. The farthest I was able to get on a virtual machine was loading the iso up, but when you attempt to run the game it will tell you you have the wrong disc in the drive.

I am unable to mount this ISO in Windows 10--it gives an error that the image is corrupt. I looked into it further with testdisk and it has no apparent file system formatting. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
