Description of Mind Prober

One of the many "psychoanalytical" programs released in mid-1980s, Mind Prober by Human Edge is an intriguing piece of software that tries to pinpoint your personality and gives advice based on your answers to questions, most of which consist of answering whether you agree or disagree with various adjectives used to describe you.

The program purports to help you understand yourself better as well as the minds if your friends, spouse, or anyone. Based on questions, the program gives you instant evaluation reports, from first impression to secret fantasies you may (gasp) harbor. The approach is quite scientific, and the results (at least for me) are interesting.

For anyone who enjoys Alter Ego or Mind Mirror, Mind Prober is an early cut-to-the-chase self-analysis program that is well worth a look. The program also comes with a thick manual-plus-book that contains many chapters on how to better understand people around you. It's also one of the first programs of its kind to ever come out for PC. Recommended!

What a fun trip into the past.

I'm still keeping until now my dot-matrix printout of The Mind Prober from 1984 using Apple II computer. I am still fascinated by the results even to this day that I want to share this experience to my children and close friends. And my fascination has led my curiosity to this webpage and share my comment. I live in the Philippines.

Still have a printout of my results from 25 years ago that I kept and it still describes me to a “T”. Amazing how well this program knows me.

After 30 years.. I was cleaning my closet and accidentally found a few sheets of aged paper. It was my "report" from this software printed with a dot matrix printer. It had predicted every single aspect of my life 30 years ago. WOW ! Never mind the old DOS platform, the logic is still perfect.

took this test in early 80's and was amazed! Just found the old dot matrix print out and looked it up to see if it still existed!

Amazing! I had this program for my Apple ][ in the '80s. Back then I thought it ran very well and had fun "analyzing" myself and my friends.

Recently I came across the instruction manual AND the Apple 5.25" diskette .. I still have my Apple, but haven't turned it on in over 30 years .. not sure if it would event run now.

Anyway, not expecting to find much of anything, I did a Google search for the software company (no luck) then the program name along with the company name .. AND FOUND THIS WEBPAGE!

I downloaded both the program and D-friend Reloaded and was able to get the program to run on my Win 7 machine ... COOL! Thanks a bunch.

I have the original program from Human Edge.
It works on DOS. It doesn't work on Windows 7.
You need an XP computer that is compatible 16 bits.

The program gives a general idea of the personality of someone with, let say, 75% accuracy if the input is correct.

The best way to use it is to fill it for 2 persons who know well each others.
The results are :
you as I see you,
me as you see me.
Analyse and discuss together both results ; analyse and discuss inputs and correct these ; restart with the new inputs. Do it until the 2 persons aggree.

I have used it about 20 times and it was very useful.

I had this program while I was in New York 1n 1984 on a floppy. It does not work on the new computers and laptops. Is there anyway you could help me to get the same program on a CD? I love this program. I had one more known as Personality expert. also on a floppy disk. But I love Mind Prober best. My e mail
