I spent a lot of money on Apple II software as well. This was one of the first games I played and I loved it.

Yep, I still have the Apple II version of NA86, and an Apple //e and IIgs that are collecting dust. Spent way too much money over the years buying stuff for them!
Red Storm Rising was a great computer game, very tense. Strangely, the board game by the same name is very different as it covers the land & air battles depicted in the book, not submarine warfare.

I remember figuring out how to edit the Basic programming files that North Atlantic '86 is built with. I was able to beef up the Soviet air power and the American carrier air power to get some serious air battles going. Fun times back in the early/mid 1990's.

a). Do you have the Apple II version of North Atlantic 86. ? 1983 I believe.
I used to play that version on a TTY printer with only alpha numeric graphics and the typing printer chattering away and the ding ding ding when something important happened added to the game realism to me. Will either of these versions play on a new IPad Pro? Formerly known as Justjacob.

PS - the best game I liked and played was Red Storm Rising by Microprose
It had just enough realism and just enough graphics & humor to make it my #1
