Red Alert
DOS - 1996
Description of Red Alert
A very rare promotional game for Johnnie Walker's Scotch Whisky released in 1996, I'll quote Benjamin who contributed this gem:
I have a copy of an obscure game called Johnnie Walker’s Red Alert from 1996 that I would love to share - yet I cannot find anything about it online!
My dad was a fan of Star Trek point and click adventure games of the 1990s and this one is similar – it was released on floppy disk bundled with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label whiskey as a promotion of sorts.
You play a crewman who wakes from sleep aboard a spacecraft; the captain is dead and a bomb is set to blow in 90 minutes. Your challenge is a series of puzzles navigating the ship’s computer to try to defuse the bomb for a chance to win real prize money (at the time!).
I have a soft copy of the game, along with two photos of the front and rear cardboard case and the whisky barcode number password that is required to begin the game. It all fits into a 2MB zip file and runs via an MS-DOS emulator such as DOS-Box.
You will need a code to play the game: 5000267014203

Wow - imagine seeing this here.
I was 10 when this came out, I remember getting up one weekend and sneaking into the office and peeling the floppy off a bottle of Johnny walker and then installing and playing.
Definitely finishable, the code is technically related to the promotion if I recall correctly…

fun fact: I was part of the team that developed this game – and YES it could be solved!
we never actually got a copy to play ourselves so this is literally the first time I've seen the final product... but I do remember hashing out how all the pieces fit together to solve the puzzle and defuse the bomb
fun times!

I was given a copy of this game. I was wondering if it was ever actually solvable with smarts, or it was just luck beating the game based off entering a winning code put in play it.
Maybe the developer can tell us if it was ever actually game to be solved, or just luck.

This is amazing - had this as a kid and never finished it.
Been searching on and off for decades and the complete lack of any trace of it made me think I was completely imagining its' existence!

Holy sh$&, I've been looking for a copy of this game for literally decades!
