The issue with the Russian version being labelled as the English version has been resolved.

The English download does indeed install the Russian version by default, but during the installation there is a drop-down menu which allows you to select the English version instead, and it does indeed install in English. It appears to work without the 1.4 patch, but if you want to install that you'll have to direct it to the correct installation path. Unlike other downloads I've tried, this version fails to find it automatically for some reason.

I forgot to mention that the Polish version has Polish voiceover for the story mode intro. If there's a way to change it, I don't know it. I also don't know whether all the other language versions have their own voiceover or whether those are in English. I watched the English version on YouTube though, so it wasn't a big deal.

As stated a few comments down, the download marked as English has had the language files changed to Russian, so unless you get hold of the original files and restore them, you won't be able to play that one in English. To play in English, you can download one of the other language versions (I got the Polish one, but there are others linked in the comments if you prefer), then use the method mentioned a couple of comments down to change the language to English.

I was actually mistaken in my last comment. It looks like everything has been changed to Russian in the download marked as English, meaning trying to change the language doesn't do anything, so avoid that one entirely if you want to play in another language.

If you want to change the language, here's a useful comment from the page for the first game. If you can't save the file, you'll have to edit the permissions in properties to 'allow all' for all users. If you have the version with international English changed to Russian, you'll have to choose UK English instead. Alternatively you can try the Polish download instead (which I haven't tried, but somebody said it's actually in English).
"To change game language you have to go in the game main folder and modify the "gameLang" file in "Config" folder . You have a line like:

To deactivate a language insert "--" before Translator. You can see other languages have it already. Remove the same "--" from the language you need to activate. This works also for Singles 2."

This is stupid. The "English" version is actually Russian, someone edited the English configuration files to be in Russian and for some reason everybody who mentions this is getting downvoted in the comments. To make things even more bizarre, the Polish version actually has the English files!
Do the admins bother to check the integrity of the games they upload or are they provided as is?

Apparently this game has some mods made for it by SteveXY. I've had no luck so far getting any of the files. All the mod pages are on german forums that lead nowhere or long abandoned sites.

Some method won't work since they directly changed a paricular language pack's content, go to 'Config' folder, find the 'langIntEnglish' and related 4 files, if you open them with textbook you should soon see that the inside content will be the language you currently have, for example :
pm_chat = Общаться
pm_play = Играть
pm_friendship = Дружба
pm_romance = Любовь
pm_erotic = Эротика
pm_other = Юмор
pm_talk = Разговор
#pm_tender = Нежность
Just mannually use translation tools for example Google Translate, to manually change them into the languagge you want, For example :
pm_chat = Chat
pm_play = Play
pm_friendship = Friendship
pm_romance = Romance
pm_erotic = Erotic
pm_other = Other
pm_talk = Talk
#pm_tender = Tender
And if you cant run the exe in win10, I'm not sure if you already know this but maybe try right click the exe program, and click properties, there's a Compatibility selection, and then check the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:', and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2), or maybe try other options see if it works.
