Update to my previous comment. This is an excellent game, but doesn't have an AI/computer player. I was confusing this game with even more excellent Starlanes for Linux, which adds a number of enjoyable features to the Star Trader gameplay: AI, color text, black holes, and better management. http://www.barnsdle.demon.co.uk/game/starlanes.html

Wow, the countless hours I've spent playing this game... Deceptively smple, yet engrossingly complex. Flashy graphics would detract from the solid gameplay. Randomly generated starfields and a challenging AI make this a game I keep playing, again and again.
