Description of Striker

Rage's first entry in the Striker series is an ambitious soccer game that boasts smooth graphics, but with no element of excitement. Gets the red card for lack of playability.

In short, Striker is a footie game from the arcade action school of thought a la Sensible Soccer: heavy on speed and frantic play, low on realism. Unfortunately, poor controls and blocky graphics make it much less fun than the Sensible Software classic.

What you end up with is a soccer game that's fast and slick, but nowhere near as much fun as it could have been. Fortunately Rage would improve both gameplay and graphics over time, and Striker '95 is quite a big improvement over this lackluster first release.

I agree with all my fellow players. This game is AMAZING! I still playing it from time to time in dosbox. Great fun and configurable. Not high-tech but high-concept!

If you ran up either flank and turned sharply towards goal when diagonal from the corner of the penalty box and let fly, you scored 99% of the time....

Have I just read this right: '... but with no element of excitement. Gets the red card for lack of playability.'

Bugger off!
Are you insane? Have you ever played it? Have you learn to play it or you just didn't find it fancy at first and then quit?

This is a GEM, this is a bloody GEM! It's as fun as hell in its arcade way, and of course it was not realistic, which game was that by then?!

Download DOSBox, configure it right, get a good keyboard or pads and enjoy this frantic classic!
