English Translation Patch
Retrogamer Havas79 kindly shared the translation patch he made himself, here a quote from his readme file:
Truth be told, this is my first attempt at translating a game, so try not to be too judgmental. When I first stumbled upon this game while searching in www.myabandonware.com for old adventure games, I was both surprised and saddened by the fact that no English translation existed. I mean, the game looked great and all the reviews I could find online said that it is a very good game, far better than the (admittedly mediocre) titular movie it is based on.
Why hadn't anyone tried to make it accessible to a much broader, English-speaking audience, then? That's when I decided to step in and take on the burden. At first, I thought: "How hard could it be?". Boy, was I wrong... What I clearly overlooked at the time was that the game is actually a comedic one and as such it relies on tons of dialogue (over 10.000 lines) in order to deliver its gags.
So, apart from the many expected inventory puzzles (it is a German adventure after all) the game also includes a fair amount of dialogue puzzles that in turn contain way too many German puns, rhymes, proverbs and pop-culture references that proved extremely hard to translate. It looks as if the game’s writers did their best to ensure that only German people would enjoy playing it. In many cases I was forced to take too much artistic liberty in order to pull the translation off.
So, as I stated earlier, try not to be too judgmental. But enough whining.
