DOS - 1988
Also available on: Apple II
Description of 2400 A.D.
In Origin's first science fiction RPG and a precursor to Space Rogue, you are chosen by the beleaguered resistance on planet XK-120 to lead the revolution against sinister robot oppressors. Restore freedom to the city of Metropolis by fighting robot enemies, explore cities, and find a way to disable the robot's central control. The skill-based gameplay foreshadows Interplay's classic Wasteland, although much more simplistic.
Overall, a noble effort for its time that would soon be surpassed by better descendants, although the game's humor and fun gadgets would keep you enthralled for hours. This game also deserves notice as Chuck "Chuckle" Bueche's first design for Origin. Thumbs up!

Why doesn't space-bar work in the PC version when talking to an NPC? When I played this on the Apple IIe (Laser clone actually) when I was a kid, you could type sentences.. is this a bug or just the way it was on PC?

I loved this game. It was so hard. But I finished it in the 80's. I had a PC and Amiga. We would get the games off BBS's for all platforms, TRUE PIRACY and HACKING AND ANARCHY! What A TIME!

All copies of this game I can find online seem to have a bug, when I get arrested, my confiscated equipment doesn't show up in the containers to be picked up lie it should. Anyone else having this issue?

@BOB: CoD used to be a really good game and i still occasionally enjoy it (read: when drunk), but yea... I get the feeling many see that "hey, free games!" and think that they will find GB-sized, full HD 3D games from like '07 and forward..

This game was Origin's ULTIMATE RPG in space. It's not only huge, but the storyline is unbeatable. If you liked Ultima 2 through 5 you'll love this but it's science fiction!

Fantastic game! I think it was the first to increase your skills as you use them! It's a short rpg, but tells a good story and manages to convey the oppression of the robots very well. Long live the resistance!

This game was fantastic! I had to think for about 5 minutes to remember the name, and then ended up searching "old origin rpg robot game" which brought me here.
I'm going to have to give this a try! The memories!
