Description of Blown Away

FMV-adventure/puzzle game loosely based on the movie with same name. The story is about a sapper who comes to a mined object and tries to defuse a bomb, but unsuccessfully - and as a result of an explosion he ends up in a hospital. However, not everything is so simple: crazy bomber considers the protagonist as a personal enemy and wants to destroy him, but first he wants to play with him. Bomber starts a deadly game and sets series of puzzles you must solve and defuse all the bombs

Notes:

The game was released for the Windows 3.x operating systems, but it works on Windows 95 too. To play the game on modern systems you will need to use a virtual machine, like DOSBox + Windows 3.11 or PCEm + Windows 95. Here's the instruction how to configure DOSBox + Windows 3.11, and here's the instruction how to configure PCEm + Windows 95. An extra note for DOSBox users: you have to set your Windows 3.1 setup to 256 colours, or else it won't start. If you don't know how to configure DOSBox, you can download custom installer by TheCollectionChamber, it includes pre-configured DOSBox + Windows 3.11 and the game
Daniel Marschall, a big fan of the game, made an unofficial fansite that includes a lot of information about the game and useful tips how to run the game on modern systems. He also made an Inofficial Patch that fixes some errors in English and German (both censored and non-censored releases) versions of the game, check this page for full list of fixes
To run the game without the disc, you can use Blown Away Launcher by Daniel Marschall that correctly copies the game files to hard drive
There was two releases of the game in Germany: one is a regular release and another release in ALDI Collection. The ALDI release was heavily censored to make it child-friendly, you can find the list of changes here. Alas, this censorship introduced a few bugs where e.g. the screen of some rooms is black and you had to click blindly. You can use Decensor patch or Inofficial patch (both by Daniel Marschall) to fix censorship issues, or play the regular non-censored release
