How to play Blue Beard Windows

Notes:

The installer of the game is 16-bit, so it doesn't work on modern systems, you will need to use additional tools like OTVDM. The installed game is 32-bit, so it can be launched on 64-bit systems, but probably will be crashing a lot. So it is recommend to use DxWnd tool to play the game on modern systems, for more stable work of the game
Optionally, you can use Windows 7 Fix by Kirill Games, that fix allows to run the game on Windows 7 and fixes the problem with displaying of colors in the game on Windows 7. That fix was created for the original Russian version but maybe will work on other versions too. To use it simply copy NQuest_BAR99.exe file to game folder, next to BAR99.exe file, and run the game from NQuest_BAR99.exe. That fix showed few generic warnings but it is safe to use, the file is from trustworthy source. Check this page for more details about that fix (it is on Russian, use the translation machine)
If none of that methods helped, run the game on Virtual Machine, like PCEm or VMWare Player, with Windows 95 or 98
