Games for Winds 95 and 98 can be especially tricky to get running properly on moder hardware. Their weird dependencies, bizarre file structure requirements, ancient drivers, and insane "16/32-bit hybrid" programming means that you can't simply right click on an EXE, change the compatibility, and expect much to happen.
Thankfully, even low-end hardware can run these games just fine, with a bit of planning and workaround. I am not going to do a full write-up in the comments of a Cabela's game from 1998, but if you get DOSBox, install Windows98 Second Edition to it, and allot each game its own "prefix" or "C:" drive, you can install ALL your old favorites and run them that way.
