Description of Global Domination

Global Domination is an awful multiplayer real-time game of world conquest that is bogged down by very confusing interface and boring display of bland statistics that most Impressions games suffer from.

The gameplay most resembles boardgame RISK, but with clunkier graphics and almost indecipherable interface. You can choose to play against real-world opponents a la classic Ancient Art of War, although you wouldn't be able to tell if they use different strategies or not, since the AI is generally bad. Revolutions add some excitement to gameplay, but overall, there was little of innovation or graphic appeal to sustain this on anyone's hard drive. For a better use of this engine, play the semi-sequel When Two Worlds War instead.

So far, it's pretty fun (however I haven't been playing very long, so I can't say how the game plays in the later stages. I know many games like this get plagued with bugs in late game). Imagine a hybrid of Risk and Civilization. Civilization because there are several leaders to choose from (although you yourself can't be a specific leader, you are simply the player) and you compete against the other leaders and can build your own world.

Risk because you don't build specific military units, you just build "armies" and you aren't managing cities. You move your armies through the countries of the world to control them. Your goal is simply to conquer the rest of the world through brute militaristic force.

Once you start your game, you're given control of a few random sections of the world (for me, I had control of Mexico, Illinois, Vietnam, and a few other various countries) and you basically are set off with no explanation as to why you're trying to conquer the world, or the controls to do so for that matter. It does leave room for coming up with your own stories then, which I like. Overall, it's a fun time killer if you enjoy a good game of Risk.
