You're best off just emulating this game with Dolphin. The controller remapping doesn't work, there's no widescreen (hack or otherwise) and the gamecube version looks identical.

Does not run, says registry error. Even downloading the extra files and running in compatibility as WinXP Sp3 still has errors

Wait, so even this downloadable version still runs through the launcher?
Meaning that it will get stuck and won't install because for some stupid reason the devs used a whitelist system to check system requirements and won't let you bypass it.
I came here specifically looking for a zip of the preinstalled game for that reason since I can't install the disc copy I have

So I remember having this game on my ps2 and I'm still trying to find my ps2, this in the meantime is great to remember my childhood memories

On the off-chance MIRZA ever reads these comments again, be advised that the launcher has weird compatibility issues and will straight up refuse to allow the game to run if it doesn't recognize your hardware as belonging to one of a *very* small range of compatible chipsets. I never found a workaround.
