In 2001, Sold Out Sales & Marketing Ltd. publishes Hydro Thunder on Windows. Also published on Arcade, this racing / driving game is abandonware and is set in a naval, sci-fi / futuristic and track racing themes.

How to play Hydro Thunder Windows
Autorun of original CD requires the installed Macromedia Shockwave Player for work. But you can launch installation from DATA folder, simply click on setup.exe.
Also, you can copy the contents of the \DATA\English\data\ folder to your drive and replace the executable file with the NoCD by beha_r.
The game has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10, works with no problem. For best experience run the game through dgVoodoo utility

Can someone help with dgvoodoo2? Not sure what resolution or settings work. the game is always windowed and it says ddraw, full screen not available.

Booted it up with WINE on Linux Mint, works like a champ, no worries about window's malware blips anymore.

Oh yeah, forgot to say that there is a back door that leads to a small river bed where wild chickens would test and ponder their life choices the owner of Klondikes (the pizza place) was so nice to make a shelter for them out of wood when it rains. Sometimes chickens would actually come inside and peck peanuts off the floor which was pretty cool.

I played this game as a child at this pizza place that was distinct for basically just being a door that went down to a basement with arcade machines, t shirts and flags all over the ceiling, and also allowed you to throw peanut shells on the literal dirt ground which was pretty sick. There was also Christmas lights year round. My favorite game was Hydro Thunder and Fast and Furious Spy Racers which was multiplayer. Sometime around the pandemic Hydro Thunder was sold so I couldn’t play it anymore. But recently on a trip to Lake Tahu I found the old game at another pizza place. Playing this old game in a small arcade room with yellow and green walls while it was snowing outside brought old emotions from long ago. Still fun and it will stay that way. Underrated as well.

I never played this game, but I'm subscribed to one youtuber who has the actual arcade machine with this game and who always recommends this game to play when it comes time to talk about this game. So yeah, I will give this game a shot and see if it is worth it or not.

Oh man... I loved playing Hydro Thunder on the Dreamcast and I was so miffed that it got released on the Playstation because I KNEW it wasn't powerful enough for the game. Did eventually get released as a bundled game on the Playstation 2 but the Dreamcast STILL did it better! This was one of THE best racing games I EVER played! Game wasn't lying when it said your crazy trying to defeat EXPERT! Took a perfect game play using ALL the shortcuts and a good bit of LUCK to beat those nightmares! But boy? You had a killer time doing it!

i have a faint memory from my child days that i was playing a water racing game and there was different monsters on the track, almost like hydra thunder hyracane's one level, but i cant find a trace on the internet, did i make it up?

You can change the resolution by using the dgVoodooCpl.exe found in same folder. plenty of options to check out there. From what i can tell it seems the game used the voodoo cards back in a day and that dgVoodoo is just a wrapper that allows us to play it using directx. SO check out dgVoodooCpl, i was able to make it full screen but it is stretched a little bit. just find what ever resolution works best for you enjoy

Such a amazing game to have played during my childhood. Used to have a sit down arcade cabinet of this game in the old bowling alley we went to and I'd play this so much. I didn't even know of a PC version until I looked it up on here and what surprised me as well is that this game has wheel support. Ran it using my G27 after seeing it had Force Feedback and it works great after lowering the FF and changing the Steering angle to around 360. Just a question, though. Does anyone know how to reset the save for this game so I can start over?
