It is a simple top-down space shoot-em-up. The levels are small enclosed arenas in which waves of enemy vessels jump in. Ships will bounce off of the arena walls if they collide with them. Levels may be ended before all waves are dealt with by destroying an entity that is destabilizing the wormhole. Almost all weapons are the same, fully-automatic energy guns that improve in damage and range. There are several ship models to choose, all are unlocked from the start, there are more agile and less durable hulls and vice-versa.
The thing I like the most is the soundtrack. These are simple electronic melodies that were predominant in games from that age but I think the composer of JC:FA did quite well.
