Megafortress
DOS - 1991
Also released on: Amiga
Description of Megafortress
An oft-overlooked modern flight sim, Megafortress is a fun sim that puts you in command of the formidable "Megafortress" B-52 bomber that can house up to 8 crew and packs tons of bombs.
As with another underdog B-17 Flying Fortress, the fun here is in commanding the various crew members aboard the plane to work in concert. The 30-mission campaign is well designed, although the personnel element isn't as strong as the flight dynamics.

Megafortress has the following addons available: Megafortress: Operation Sledgehammer and Megafortress: Operation SkyMaster, don't miss them!

I remember this one. Took me forever to figure out how to take off, only to be shot down by my own guys for not having the IFF codes lol. Even the anti-piracy aspect was immersive. Never could land the damn thing though...

The website for buying the game doesn't show the game. So I think it's safe to say it's abandonware again and the download links brought back

Great flight sim. The DOS versions is vastly better than the Amiga one I suffered with. Amiga runs at 5 fps in low res. Dos version is smooth as silk on a 12mhz 286 in 256 colors.

Wow..in '94 I learned to use a computer when I was about 7 years old at a kind neighbors house. Their kids and I would play this and scorched earth for ages.
Awesome game, I remember celebrating the first time I landed a plane.

There is some problem with iff/transponder, i think it's a anticopy protection. You need a valid number or you will be destroyed "by the good guys". It's impossible to play this way.
