Description of Quarantine
One of the first truly irreverent and unpretentiously violent games, Quarantine has achieved cult classic status among action gamers as one of the few games that provide pure, unfiltered, visceral fun of killing pedestrians and everything else that got in your way.
The game even has a novel plot: pick up fares and various missions in your struggle to make out as a cab driver in futuristic Kamu city. Graphics and sounds are great by 1995 standards, and like the excellent Grand Theft Auto that followed in its footsteps 3 years later, you have complete freedom to ignore the grand plot as long as you like. "Postal" games don't get better than this.
My advice: buy a flamethrower as soon as you can <EG>

Does this game have anything in common with Outlander on Sega gen? Seems to have a lot in common.

Anyone got the sound to work on this game? I can get the intro video to play with broken audio by using qvidaud.bat, but no sound at all otherwise.

This Doom-on-wheels game is iconic in many ways. Games like Carmageddon, GTA, Postal and Crazy Taxi are some of the elements combine in this game. And for those looking for a modern remake or reboot of Quarantine there is one unofficial game on steam called Cyber Taxi.

I loved this game back in the day, the graphics, the story (something along the lines of Escape from New York), the modifications to the taxicab, even the windscreen wiper wiping the blood off the windscreen when you run down all those nutjobs hurling molotovs at you. Way ahead of it's time.

I haven't played the DOS port yet, but this was one of the few games I absolutely loved on the Panasonic 3DO system! If this version is anything like that, it's one to have for sure.

oh! thank you!
the cycle count i use is 15%. but idk how to keep it like it.

Cumbrain, look at Redergalerg's comment and download those files.
Extract the .cue and .iso to say c:\games\q, then in dosbox run:
mount x c:\games\q
imgmount d x:\quaran~1.cue -t iso
d:
install
Install it to X:\, then:
x:
setup, choose option O for your sound card
cycles=10000
q
That cycle count is a ballpark. If it's too high it causes the graphic bug and also messes with the physics. I'll give a cycle count later which more accurately represents a computer of the era, but I need to get to a spot further in the game to test it. I'll make a post in a few days. Also, even back in the day the physics felt janky as shit. You gotta feather your inputs!

i'm having trouble, some of the games graphics are flickering, and the music isn't working.
I dragged Q.exe to dosbox.exe to get it to run, is this the source of my problems?

I found once I ran setup and the game recognised a sound card then the game worked. Just keep selecting 'SELECT SOUND CARD' and going through the alphabet of cards until the default 'PC SPEAKER' changes. I also found using the QVIDAUD.BAT worked better to launch the game than Q.BAT. Keep it real.

I love killing people in games, but even more so in real life. Please donate to my foundation.

I can't even get the extras to open. I downloaded the Copy Protection codes, and they open. Everything else opens with a blank page, even though I can read them before I download them. I have never had this problem before. But in reading everyone's post, I can only assume this game is flawed anyway. Too bad, it looked good. You would think someone would be testing these before they present them here for others to download.

"OK, apparently it may be caused by the files on the iso being read only"
Well, yeah. It's a CD image. CDs are read only.
Also, nrg files are nero's proprietary format. Install a trial of nero and burn it to CD. There's your CD version :)

Did anybody found out how to play the cd version of quarantine correctly?
Dark Redshift 2018-08-31 2 points
PPS. Nope. Tried without the disk mounted and it isn't the locked files that are the issue. The game still freezes whenever I start a new game and the keyboard won't respond.
Dark Redshift 2018-08-31 1 point
OK, apparently it may be caused by the files on the iso being read only and dosbox not liking it. However, trying to remove read only mode won't work because the computer denies me access. The installed files are fine however.
Dark Redshift 2018-08-31 1 point
Nevermind. I got it working, but now it freezes after selecting new game and I can't move; It says "Welcome to Quarantine Press any key to Start" while a 2 second engine noise loops in the background, but pressing any key like it says does absolutely nothing. Yes, my keyboard is set as the input device. What do I do?
Dark Redshift 2018-08-31 0 point
How do I install the CD version? Dosbox doesn't seem to recognise nrg files
Dark Redshift 2018-08-05 0 point
Where the hell can I get the CD version? This is the crappy floppy disk version.

if it wasn't for Ross's game dungeon, we wouldn't be hearing about this amazing gem of a game. oh, and amazing soundtrack!
poormanisme 2016-01-28 -3 points
carmageddon is WAY BETTER than this game,
my biggest problem is the control(keyboard), I felt
as if I was the metal ball in a pinball machine as I seem
to BOUNCE of almost everything I hit. if it wasn't for this problem
and the unresponsive control then I probably would have enjoyed
this game more. but hey at least it works without the @#^^%$& cdrom drive
needing to be mounted like some OTHER games here.

Ahaha. This game was mad! It is kinda like Crazy Taxi, except it came out first, and you could mount machine guns and flame throwers on the roof of your car and run over civilians. Craaazy and fun.
