It looked way better on the Commodore 64 as well (which if I remember correctly was a port from the Apple II)).

In the CGA era, the Apple II version is actually better. You can find it on the Asimov FTP site. The CGA graphics of the PC version GoG sells looks terrible compared to how I remember playing on the Apple II.

I still play it on a 386 I have discovered all the tricks to win against the nasty enemy, have gone all the way to the end without doing a 'save' and backing up when killed, but never got to the point of doing my own angel calculations

Love ss! I had it for atari st, dos, and much later for nes. I always liked the ST version best.

I played SILENT SERVICE on an Apple 2 for years. I've got a Kindle HGX now. It's got the old Apple beat in so many ways. I would like to see the game made compatible so I could play it again.

I'm the guy there on the periscope! In my pocket I have had a transparent plastic sheet with an diagram painted on to measure the angle on the bow for the TDC on the TV-screen.
