How to play Smashing Toys Windows
The game has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10, it works fine. The game has English & French languages, the language can be switched by clicking on flags in main menu in top right corner. - Your antivirus may trigger on the archive with the game because of "cracked" executable, it showed few generic warnings about suspicious file. The file is safe to use, all warnings are false positive, simply add the SmashingToys.exe file to antivirus exceptions list. All other files in the archive are clear, here's the scan report
- If you play on Windows 10 - run the game in Compatibility mode with Windows 98, if you play on Windows 7 - run it in Compatibility mode with Windows XP. Also try Compatibility modes with other old Windows if the game doesn't work. Also, it is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game
- The game works on DirectX 9, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
- The game has controller support, you must connect both the gamepad and mouse & keyboard before the start of the game and then select the controller in game settings. If the game doesn't recognize your controller - try using one of the additional tools from PCGamingWiki guide for controllers
- The game can be played in Windowed mode, press Alt+Enter in the game to switch to Windowed mode. No matter which screen resolution you use, the game will always run in 640x480 window
- If you have troubles with running the game, try to run it through dgVoodoo 2, it should help
