How to play STORM: Frontline Nation Windows
The game with NoDVD has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8 and Windows 10, it works fine (but unfortunately, there's a lot small bugs); the game supports widescreen. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Notes for details
To install the game mount the ISO image or extract the files from it with file archiver tool like WinRAR or 7-zip, and run Setup.exe. After you installed the game - use NoDVD, simply copy STORM.exe from the archive and put in game folder, agree to replace the original file
Notes:
- If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe as Administrator and in Compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
- If the game doesn't work - run it in Compatibility mode with old Windows (like Windows XP) and as Administrator. Also, it is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game, and OpenAL for the correct work of in-game audio
- The game is multilingual, it has 5 languages: English, French, German, Italian & Spanish. The language can be selected on the first run; if you want to change it later, you can do it in Options
- Unfortunately, the game has many small bugs, especially graphics glitches with black or flickering textures or disappearing mouse cursor. There's currently no fix for that, but here's some methods that can possibly help: disable Fullscreen optimization for the game (right-click on STORM.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> check the box "Disable Fullscreen optimizations"); try to run the game in Compatibility with all old Windows, one by one; select the lower screen resolution in Options. If none of that methods helped and you still have visual bugs - try to run the game on Virtual Machine with old Windows, like Windows XP, maybe it will help
- If you get the error "Frontline Nation is already running" when you start the game - open the Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and "kill" the process STORM.exe
- If you get the error about missed OpenAL32.dll - make sure that you installed OpenAL, it is required for the correct work of the game. If you still get that error - download OpenAL32.dll from our website and put it into game folder, next to STORM.exe
- Online multiplayer servers of the game were closed a long time ago, but the game has support of LAN multiplayer, so you can try to play the multiplayer mode with LAN emulators, like Hamachi or RadminVPN
- If you feel that the game is too hard, you can download a cheat mod for 500 starting money on ModDB. Here's also an ID codes that you can use to edit savegame files, if you know how to do that
