Before Karateka, from Broderbund, there was Swashbuckler!
You were able to Thrust, Parry, Block, and you moved only side to side, as well as turning around (of course) ... The big ogre with the spiked club was often a pain to kill, because his club spike was quite far out from his body, so you'd take damage quite easily when trying to hit him...
Unless you timed it JUST RIGHT so you'd hit when he raised his club AND backed away before it came back down on you... _
