Task Force 1942
DOS - 1992
Description of Task Force 1942
World War II simulation were very popular in the 80s and 90s. In Task Force 1942, you can take control of many different ships that took part in the pacific navy battles. American, Australian and New Zealand ships are in the game, as well as the Japanese ships. Many battle give you full control over the whole task force.
The game received some bad reviews but is seen by gamer as the precursor of 3D ship battle simulations.

I have this in a container in my shed (along with my other first PC games like X-Wing, Aces of the Pacific, SWOTL, Wing Commander, LHX), the whole thing, box, manuals, ID book, map of Iron Bottom Sound, even the warranty card and tech supplement! In fact, I read the ID Booklet often because it gives detailed AAR's of some of the night time naval battles around Guadalcanal - from both the US side AND Japanese, separately! If you have even a passing interest in naval sims or WW2 sims, you need to do yourself a favor and GET THIS! You won't regret it!

LOL, this site has been broken by the crookes over at retroism who can afford a lawyer, they're crooked because they don't have the rights to sell the games they claim as their own now. Looks like somebody found out how to make money from old crap on the internet and block the competition.

One of the best 8-bit Sims I ever played. Once scored an unbelievable six-figure score on the battle of Tassafaronga but I did not save it on the replay. I sure would like to play it again today in hi DEF.

Few games, past or present, have managed to merge the command of a fleet with the command of an individual ship with the command of that ship's guns and torpedoes (and even fewer allow up to build your own fleet and battle it out. Can you beat a battleship with just a single destroyer?). Someone seriously needs to remake this game for the modern systems.

Okay, so I'm going to brag. I actually still have the original booklets that came with the game. The Task Force 1942 identification book of Japanese Naval vessels and the game guide.
Yeah, I'm a pack-rat!
