On the Amiga version someone made an unofficial scenery disk addon called "Northern Germany Challenge". This scenery disk (along with all other addons) is included in this whdload config: http://whdownload.com/games/T/TestDrive2&DataDisks_v1.1_0588&0589&0590&0591&0818.lha

Wow, awesome. I didn't realize the muscle cars we saw in TD 4 were also in the one with the add on. They got the Daytonas tail lights wrong, though. They used the SuperBird tail lights!!!

Played all of the versions. I grew up with the IBM CGA version but the Atari-ST is the best version. The Amiga is exactly the same (16 colors) but has laughably slow-downs.

Guess I am the only one who remembers this game on an Apple Macintosh. I have successfully downloaded and am now engrossed in it on my old SE/30. Good times.

if you want to make it full get the add on disks, there are four in total, "california" "europe" "super cars" and "muscle cars". extract the zips to different folders for the moment just to avoid being confused, keep the main game folder as it is for now.
the game has files that list the scenarios and the cars, installing the add ons without messing around with floppy disks is easy, just edit those files on notepad or wordpad and add the stuff manually copying and pasting from the equivalent file in the add on folder, then copy the contents of the add on folder to the main game folder EXCEPT FOR THOSE FILES, don't replace the main game files you just edited.
an example:
1)go to the california add on folder
2)open SCENES.DAT with notepad, you'll see some text.
3)copy the text
4)go to the main game folder, let's say "TD2" and open its SCENES.DAT file in notepad
5)paste the text you copied from the add on file.
6)copy the files from the california folder to the td2 folder EXCEPT for scenes.dat, don't select that one or delete it from the california folder before selecting and copying all the rest of the files.

you can do the same with the europe levels add on, and then for the cars add ons the files are "CARS.DAT" instead of "SELECT.DAT".
it's the same basic process, go to the cars add on folder, open cars.dat in notepad, copy the text, go to the main game folder, open the cars.dat file in notepad, paste, save, and now copy the contents of the add on folder to the main game folder EXCEPT for cars.dat.

just in case, SCENES.DAT should contain this:
TDS2 Master_Scenery 6
CCC Calif_Challenge 7
ec_ European_Challenge 6

and CARS.DAT should contain this:
F40 Ferrari_F40
P959 Porsche_959
CAMA Camaro_ZL-1
DODG Dodge_Charger
GOAT Pontiac_GTO
GT50 Mustang_GT500
STNG Corvette_Stingray
VETT Chevy_Corvette_ZR1
ROSS Ferrari_Testarossa
COUN Lambo_Countach
LOTU Lotus_Turbo_Esprit
RUF Ruf_Twin_Turbo

hi,i finded another version that already have all the car and scenery disks preinstalled if anyone don't want to have to mess whit intalling all of the addons individually, goto:
http://oldgames.ru/oldgames/files/T/Test_Drive_2.rar
that version also haved the tandy executable (TD2TDY.EXE)thats missing from this and a lot of other pirated versions around net ,but i seen no difference from running it from that exe than from the ega exe (the graphics are still the same and the sounds are still fricking HORRIBLE and will drive you crazy so its probably best to play it with the sounds OFF or get the amiga version of the game and use amiga emulator,no?(OH,you says,BUT THERES ALSO AN SUPER NINTENDO VERSION AND SEGA GENESIS VERSION BUT DO IT HAVE ALL OF THE CARS AND SCENERY ON THEMS? I DONT KNOW,I HAVENT TESTED THOSE VERISONS YET!!!))
anyway, the game is still fun ,despite it being an really old game.ABANDONED?? maybe by some, but not by all.i've been playing it for about an hour and really enjoying it.I LOVE ALL THIS OLD SHIT =D
i think i might play some wing commander II next though,or some other racing game. i want to be an racer thoguh ! !
oh,and for any other nuts that are still playing these old game,i couldnt fidn the manual anywhere on internt to take but i finded this so might be useful:

@Shisk
Oh COOL, thank you!
Now it's only missing the Tandy executable to be complete.

Shi9k 2012-10-17 0 point DOS version

Found the CGA executable, TD2CGA.EXE, in this zip! Confirmed to work (didn't test the game in this download, I just added the executable to the Test Drive II folder).

EDIT: Added on the file archive.

Shi9k 2012-10-17 2 points DOS version

@Wertzui Oh so THAT is why I can't play with CGA or Tandy graphics... Yeah, pretty lame, but still great addtition this game.

Paperinik77pk 2010-11-21 0 point DOS version

One of the greatest car games ever made!
Even in CGA (and I have a B/W Monitor on my old Olivetti M200) it's simply gorgeous.

15 stars out of 5!!!

Wertzui 2010-11-20 0 point DOS version

Damn. Why does every download package miss the CGA and Tandy executables! I WANT THEM!!!!

Wertzui 2010-11-17 0 point DOS version

Best game in the Test Drive franchise (I havent played TD Unlimited 'though. ) Very cool design and feeling!

adam 2010-01-18 0 point DOS version

good

Skoll 2009-08-28 0 point DOS version

Woohoo, CGA graphics. Another game from way back that I played the crap out of. Was always trying to get that average speed up when they rated you at the end of each stage. "Pass any low flying planes?" Haha. (Was one of the game sayings)
