The game v4.1 with SilentPatch has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11 22H2, it works fine, the game supports widescreen. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Guide and Notes for more details

Install & play guide:

Mount the disc image with virtual drive utility, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Lite, etc.
Install the game, make sure to select "Full Installation" to install all components of the game. You can skip the installation of DirectX 6 and DirectX Media components, since on modern systems it is included in DirectPlay
After you installed the game - install the patch v4.1
Then install NoCD, simply copy TC2.exe to Toca2/Game folder, agree to replace the original file. Even though SilentPatch disables disc check, we still recommend to use NoCD because that way the game should load faster
Now install SilentPatch, to install it simply copy the files to the same Toca2/Game folder
Launch the game and play. The game with SilentPatch should work as it is, without the Compatibility mode. If the game doesn't work - try to launch it in Compatibility mode with old version of Windows (Windows 2000 or XP, etc.)

What is SilentPatch for TOCA 2: Touring Car Challenge:

SilentPatch is a project of coder Silent to adapt TOCA 2 for modern systems. We highly recommend to use it if you want to play the game, because that patch not only improves the performance of the game on modern machines, but also add some very useful features, such as a support of high screen resolutions, including ultra-wide displays, and the ability to change FOV (Field of View). SilentPatch is fully compatible with dgVoodoo 2, so you can use the combination of SilentPatch + dgVoodoo 2 to get the best in-game graphics, because with dgVoodoo 2 you can play the game with Antialiasing and Texture filtering. To use dgVoodoo 2 copy the dll-files from the MS/x86 folder, dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf to the Toca2/Game folder, the run dgVoodoo Control Panel (dgVoodooCpl.exe) as administrator and change the settings; don't enable any Forced screen resolution if you use it with SilentPatch. If dgVoodooCpl.exe doesn't start when you run it from game folder - move dgVoodoo files to some another folder, change the settings in dgVoodooCpl.exe (don't forget to run it as administrator!) and then move the files back to game folder

Notes:

If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
The game works on DirectX 6, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
The game has no DRM protection, only the simple disc check. Use NoCD to remove disc check and play without the disc, simply replace TC2.exe file in Toca2/Game folder. Also, SilentPatch removes disc check too, but if the game keep asking to insert the disc or crashes at the start, or race tracks load too long - use NoCD, SilentPatch works fine in combination with NoCD from our website
If the game crashes at loading or when you start the race - run the game with SilentPatch, it should help
It is recommended to cap the framerate in game to 30 FPS. There's no framerate limit in the game, but in-game physics are tied to the framerate, and there can be issues with in-game physics when the game runs on more than 30 FPS. If you play with dgVoodoo 2, you can cap the framerate in dgVoodoo.conf - open it in Notepad, find the line FPSLimit = and enter FPSLimit = 30. If you don't use dgVoodoo, cap the framerate in control panel of your video card or with one of framerate limiter utilities
The game supports widescreen resolutions, but the image will be stretched if you enable it. To play the game with the correct screen ratio, install the SilentPatch. The game with SilentPatch can be launched even in 4k screen resolution or ultrawide disply, here's a video example how the game looks in ultrawide screen resolution
If you have problem with broken sound effects or cracking/disappearing sound - first try to change the sound settings. If it didn't work - set sound quality to 24 bit, 48000 Hz or 24 bit, 44100 Hz. Read this guide how to do that
The game has the support of XInput-type controllers, but probably it won't work with any other type of controllers. If the game doesn't recognize your controller - try to use one of the additional tools from PCGamingWiki guide for controllers
Online multiplayer servers of the game were closed over 2 decades ago, but the game has support of LAN multiplayer, so you can try to play the multiplayer mode with LAN emulators, like Hamachi or RadminVPN. Also, the game has support of local multiplayer for 2-4 players on one computer

Hi buds, how are you there? How can I run this game in Windows 10? Also I have an issue, when i'm trying to open up sends the message ''Directx error, you should have the correct version for this game'' or something like that. Any ideas??

I have used Virtual Clone CD to try and open the game, I get to the Go.exe, then it opens run.exe in the management box, click on yes, the rotating windows circle appears for a few seconds and then nothing. Any ideas? I,m running windows 11.

Windows 10 install guide, mount ISO and run go.exe, if given an error mount ISO and copy the contents of the mounted image to a new created folder, run go.exe. google search SilentPatchTOCA2.zip and extract to Game folder of TOCA 2 and run the game, SilentPatchTOCA2.zip is a widescreen fix, hope this helps.

Man I really hope I can get this to work, I have an old (by old I mean it was new when this game was released) steering wheel and pedal set that I'm working on an adapter for, and this is the first game I'm going to play on it because I remember Toca 2 being not only one of the first video games I ever played as a small child, it was on that same steering wheel set. big nostalgia for me :D

A big mistake of this franchise was that they didn't put a PC version of TOCA World Touring Cars (2000), simply i think the most epic game of almost all of them, it was very complex and as it played on PS1 the difficulty was insane, and i loved ♥
