How to play Tsunami 2265 Windows
The game v1.1 with dgVoodoo has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10, works with no problem. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Guide and Notes for details
Install & play guide (with dgVoodoo 2):
- Mount the disc image. You will need the utility for mounting disc image files, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Lite
- Install the game, choose "Full" installation (if autorun doesn't work - simply launch the installation from Setup.exe inside the disc). It is recommended to install the game not in default path, but in some other, non-system folder, like
C:/Games/Tsunami 2265
- After you installed the game, install the patch v1.1
- Then use NoCD, simply copy Tsunami.exe from the archive and put it into game folder, agree to replace the original file
- Now install dgVoodoo 2, to use it copy the DDraw.dll & D3DImm.dll files from the
MS/x86
folder, dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf to the game folder, then open dgVoodoo.conf in Notepad in the lineFPSLimit=0
enterFPSLimit=60
. You can also download ready dgVoodoo 2 configuration from our website, and simply extract it to game folder - Open the game folder and find Tsunami.exe. Right click on Tsunami.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Set "Run this app in compatibility mode with Windows XP" and "Run as administrator" Launch the game and play. If the game doesn't work in compatibility mode with Windows XP - try to launch it in compatibility mode with other version of Windows (Windows 98, Windows 2000, etc.)
If this guide looks complicated for you, you can download repack by Magipack, it includes fixes and has a simple installer
Notes:
- If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
- It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
- The game works on DirectX 7, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
- The game may crash at random moments, especially after the level ending, when the next level is loading. It is recommended to run the game with dgVoodoo to decrease the number of crashes; if you play without dgVoodoo, try to set the screen resolution to 1280x1024 or lower, or run the game in OpenGL mode (don't use OpenGL mode with dgVoodoo). Also, if you changed the in-game screen resolution, the game probably will crash or freeze after the training level; if you have troubles with training level - use the savegame to skip it
- If the game still keep crashing, try to use Crash fix by KRBDZSKL, it has the edited files of the game to decrease the number of crashes. It was tested with Russian & English versions of the game, probably will work with others too; don't forget to make back-ups of original files first
- In-game camera may work strange if you changed еру controls. Like if you set movement controls to WASD, the mouse may stop moving vertically, set it back to default arrow keys
- Many scripts in the game are broken, especially on the levels without the robot. For example, if you pick some items earlier than developers planned it, some gates won't open. Check this thread for more details (it is on Russian, use the translation machine)
- If you have problem with broken sound effects or disappearing sound - first try to change the sound settings. If it didn't work - set sound quality to 24 bit, 48000 Hz or 24 bit, 44100 Hz. Read this guide how to do that
