WWF Wrestlemania
DOS - 1992
Also available on: Amiga - Amstrad CPC - Atari ST - Commodore 64 - ZX Spectrum
Description of WWF Wrestlemania
The first WWF-licensed computer game is a horrendous game, although still (surprisingly enough) better than its even worse successor WWF European Rampage.
OCEAN's WWF Wrestlemania features a lot of blocky wrestlers who look nothing like their real-life counterparts, uninspired stadiums, poor controls, and basically everything else that make people consider it the stupidest sport ever devised (come to think of it, those might be the very same reasons that attract fans to the game.... oh well). At least there's a decent atmosphere-building insult-trading section before the start of every match that is halfway amusing to watch, although it adds nothing to the game.
Overall, an abysmal game, and a total waste of the blockbuster license. Wrestling fans would be well advised to skip this one and play any other wrestling game instead-- except its sequel, of course.

Apparently it received a 91% rating from Commodore Format magazine. Seems strange in light of these other reviews. https://twitter.com/FREEZE64UK/status/1478003076145586182

This game is terrible. The DOS, Atari ST, and Amiga versions kind of ape the WWF Superstars arcade game graphics, but not nearly as good and without most of the animations.
The game is best played with a game pad (if you insist on playing at all). Your options are severely hampered with one attack button. Walking into the opponent initiates a grapple, where you must wiggle left/right on your pad/joystick/keyboard/whatever faster than the computer. Warning, the computer is very good at grapples and will win most of the time unless you are extremely good. Each wrestler only has one grapple move, making things even more boring. There's apparently some way to run, though I haven't figured it out (at least not consistently).
Seriously, there are much, MUCH better wrestling games out there.

Avoid this game if you enjoy having hair, as playing this game will surely lead you to pull it all out in a fit of absolute rage.

This is the hottest game of the year, as far as Skip Rogers is concerned.
