How to play X Operations Windows

Notes:

X Operations has two clients: one for singleplayer, with different missions, and one for multiplayer. To play the game run config4xops05.exe to set options first, then run the xops_.exe. In-game menu and user interface are in English so you can understand how to play it, but the mission briefings are in Japanese. You can find more information about the game and how to play it on this archived fansite
The game has open-source port by fans, called OpenXOPS, you can download it here, OpenXOPS requires the original X Operations for work. Nowadays, fans of the game usually play multiplayer matches in OpenXOPS port
You can create your own levels in the official X Operations Tools level editor. Fans made many new maps and missions for the game, you can find some of the maps here or here
